Fashion forward in the fall

So now that summer’s long gone, fall is here. Autumn is my favorite season because it’s a little bit of both weathers – cold and warm. You’re able to mix up your summer and winter clothes together and wear cute tights and headbands and what not and still feel comfortable. It’s great.

In this post of Quinnchic, I’ll show you what to wear, how to wear it, and where you can get it!

Big Sweaters

Ugh, big sweaters are honestly my favorite things – they’re comfy, not fitting (which means they’re perf for any body type), and fashion forward. You can wear big sweaters with anything whether it be leggings, jeans, tights, shorts, and even skirts. Literally A N Y T H I N G and they’ll look good. My favorite outfit is wearing my big white sweater with my beige skirt and tights and combat boots to complete the look. It’s such a perfect asset for your wardrobe for the fall because it’s so simple and versatile.

Tights

Tights are perfect. They come in different shades, colors, and patterns. You can wear them with dresses and laced up shoes or skirts and boots or shorts and shoes – whatever works!  What I find cool is that you can have a summer outfit, throw it over tights and cardigan and boom, fall outfit. It’s a perfect match maker! You’re always so warm in tights and they make your legs look nice as well!                                                                    You can find cool pairs at:

  • Forever 21
  • H&M
  • Aldo
  • Urban Outfitters

Headbands

These are becoming a more common asset to a woman’s wardrobe. They’re cool pieces that are SO IN this fall. They keep your head super warm and they go great with fall outfits. They’re comfy, extremely versatile, and of course – affordable. I have 2 pairs of headbands myself and they always complete my outfit. Whether I’m wearing jeans and a “T” or a cute dress, throwing on a headband always takes my outfit a step up from being average.

Trends that come and go

Some trends are timeless, others are not. The theme of the 70s is now coming back in style as it has become popular to wear jean jackets, maxi skirts, patterned leggings, and, wait for it… flare jeans. Yes, flare jeans are slowly making their way to societal acceptance everyone!  I’ll give you the low-down on how to wear these trendy garments and who’s wearing them!

Jean Jackets

Jean Jackets are single handedly the most basic item one can have in her wardrobe, but probably one of the most useful. These denim assets have come back and forth, time and time again. Hopefully soon they’ll be here to stay. You can literally throw them on anything you want. If you’re feeling bummy, throw them over a sweater and pair it up with comfy yoga pants. If you’re feeling super casual, throw on some combat boots, leggings, leg warmers, Imageyour jean jacket (or jean shirt!), and even a beanie if you’re feeling wild. Want to dress it up a bit? Look at how Rashida Jones, January Jones, and Emmy Rossum wore their beloved denim jackets. They’re fitted, classic accent pieces to any outfit. Jean jackets are always the way to go if you’re ever lost in your closet.

Maxi Skirts

Maxi skirts are the typical hippy skirts, but that’s what’s in right now. They can be casual or formal and thrown with a cropped top or big sweater. These have to be my most favorite article of clothing I have ever/ will ever own. Maxi skirts are everything to me. They’re so so so Imagecomfortable and so chic. I love everything about them! They fit everyone’s figure, short or tall, thin or thick – they’re great! Here’s a tip when wearing maxi’s : if you want to look taller, go for a maxi skirt that is tiered, it makes your legs look longer! Check out these fab celebs rocking their maxi skirts!

Patterned Leggings

Does this make you cringe? It would’ve made me cringe five years ago. Now, patterned leggings are seen everywhere and are worn in any way possible: under skirts, under dresses, with boots, with sandals, with heels, big sweaters, and cropped tops. They’re a funky accent piece and range from tribal patterns to flowers, strips to polka dots. The possibilities are endless. My idol, Beyonce, rocked these blue tribal leggings walking around New York. She had an all black outfit on which looked great but with that splash of electric blue printed leggings, her outfit was complete. Leggings are great for everyone because they’re eccentric, make you look slimmer, cheap, and most of all, comfortable. Be like Beyonce and get yours now!Image

Flare Jeans

This may seem like a debatable topic but flare jeans are so in right now. Skinny jeans have taken the reign for quite some time but I’m ready to see the flare back in action. I like the look of flare jeans. They make outfits look more alive in my opinion, more chic and daring. They’re tricky pieces however because they’re only to be worn with high heels, flats, or sandals – nothing else. Combat boots and tall boots are so in right now so it’s hard to incorporate flare jeans into your wardrobe if you are obsessed with wearing boots, but I think you should give it a try. Just look at how lean and flattering Gwyneth Paltrow and ImageClaudia Schiffer look in their flare jeans. Grab a couple of shades of these flare jeans and experiment with your outfits. Add scarves and blazers to spice it up. Have fun with it!

Once upon a runway

Our favorite idols, our favorite actresses, and our favorite disney divas …

Gone Right vs. Gone Wrong

Let’s look back when I was young, say, circa 2006, when there was Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana… to now

boy how things change…

These Disney Divas who starred in those shows are now growing up, in two very different directions.

Selena Gomez, Mexican-American pop star with a sweet smile who was known for wearing v-necks, skinny jeans, and converse is now strutting her stuff in sheer tops and leather pants. Her style now is a little bit edgy, but still presentable. Oftentimes she models what Rachel Bilson wears because she really likes her simple yet chic style. Selena wears what’s appropriate for her body size and always always always mixes it up. From fur vests and sneaks to sleek, backless jumpsuits, Selena knows how to get it together. She tends to keep in mind the phrase, “less is more.”

Even when Gomez was seen wearing that burgundy and white jumpsuit, it still looked great! She wore it the right way: with hair done, makeup simple, and shoes just right. When Selena mixes up her outfits, she does it right. I practically cringe at the thought of wearing sneakers and a dress but when Selena wears it, it couldn’t look any better.

“Three things that girls must have in their closet: jeans, heels, and a scarf.” – Selena Gomez

And I couldn’t agree with that any more! Those are three basic items to one’s wardrobe but they couldn’t be any more useful. Jeans can be worn casually or formally, skinny to flare, anytime and anywhere. Heels are a no-brainer, c’mon. And scarves?! Let me tell you something, you can wear the same outfit for a week and with a simple scarf change, it looks like you’ve been wearing a different outfit every single day! … just kidding, that’s a little grimy but you get what I mean.

As you come to study more and more about her style, you realize how neutral the colors are of her garments and how she rarely wears jewelry. She just throws on a dark shade of lipstick, and pairs up crucial assets and calls it a day. You rock SG, love what you wear, all the time.

Oh Hannah Montana now where do I begin with you. I love Miley Cyrus, I think she’s great, an inspiration (in many different aspects) and an overall sweet girl. However, this girl has gone crazy after her breakup with Liam Hemsworth. Maybe it’s the “growing up” part, maybe it’s the breakup, or maybe it’s just her gaining more publicity. But whatever it is, I don’t think it’s a good look for her.

Abercrombie shirts, flare jeans, cowboy boots, and can’t forget about the glittery accessories, all changed this past year. Miley Cyrus went from country girl lovin’ to literally living life on the edge. With a hair dye and hair cut, red lipstick, and skin tight clothes, Miley Ray Cyrus surely puts on a show wherever she goes. Miley doesn’t wear much nowadays… but if she does wear something it’s latex and leather. The things she wears isn’t giving her positive feedback so I think it’d be better if she had just stopped what she was doing and reevaluate her life a little bit. I love Miley but her outfits are way too revealing and simply look tacky.

I loved Miley when she wore free people, H&M, and Forever21. She wore chic, hip, clothes that were presentable, fashion-forward, and form fitting. Miley just needs to get her act together and mature a little bit before she takes it farther than she already has.

Hopefully this is just a phase, a phase that won’t be repeated.

Gypsy Gyps

I’m pretty sure I’m obsessed, it’s fine.

These pants will absolutely be the death of me. I’m sure you’ve heard of them too and I hope you’re obsessed as well.

Gypsy Pants

they’re all the rage………………….

These pants are finally getting back into style as being a hippie or “hipster” is what’s “in” nowadays. Gypsy pants have been around for ages but now they’re found to be more eccentric, vivid, and fashionable. Ranging from bright reds to grays to wild prints, gypsy pants are key in a typical teenage girl’s wardrobe. They can be worn with sneakers, sandals, flats, and heels (of course). Just do yourself a favor and please don’t wear them with boots, never do that.  Big no no.

I never knew how much I would like these pants. It seems like just yesterday I was rockin’ my XS Hollister graphic tees and flare jeans. Now you can’t see me go a day without my midi rings, printed tanks, high-waisted shorts, or combat boots. Weird how things change – weird how style repeats itself as well. .. maybe that’ll be a topic in one of my future posts. Anyways, I recently became obsessed with these pants because they’re not only fashionable but they’re so so versatile and comfortable. They’re usually made from wrinkle- free fabrics, how convenient! I mean c’mon, it’s a win-win situation for all.

Gypsy pants are pretty affordable also! They range from $15 to $50 (the most) at popular teen stores like H&M, Urban Outfitters, and especially Forever 21. They have the cutest patterns and colors. If however you see gypsy pants above that price, don’t buy them. So not worth it. They’re cute but they’re so easy to make, trust me I sew gowns for God’s sake. These pants are made out of four pieces and gather at the waistline and hem. It couldn’t get easier than that if you tried.
